I am so excited to have made the finals of the prestigious British Photography Awards with my image 'Barracks of Belgrade'.

The photograph is part of a wider series I captured documenting refugees in Serbia.

It shows a man who sleeps in a large brick warehouse just behind Belgrade's main transport hub. Temperatures can drop to -16 in winter, so he is forced to burn toxic creosote-soaked railway sleepers to try to keep warm.

He was one of nearly two thousand migrants, mainly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

I am delighted that the awards raised money for several wonderful charities.
