I am delighted that my series of images documenting The Royal Free Hospital gained an Honourable Mention in the International Photography awards 2020. Editorial category.

In the early days of the UK’s COVID-19 outbreak, I was commissioned to document how the Royal Free Hospital and how its staff were dealing with the effects of the pandemic. To be able to tell this incredible story of resilience, I was given access to all hospital departments – From the maternity ward, where I witnessed births/cesareans, to the mortuary, whose staff described how horrendous it was to cope with the extra surge of bodies, to ITU, where the dedicated staff worked such long shifts in full PPE to save lives.

Hospital life so shockingly different form normality. The staff where the most inspiring, happy, incredible people, who put their own lives at risk to save others. I am so grateful to our wonderful NHS, it was truly an honour to work on this project.
